Staff Bio:

My first sim was with my ZX81 (I still have the ZX81 but the tape recorder with the programs recorded on it has long since vanished).

The graphics were unbelievably poor compared to today's sims but at the time they were captivating.  I spent hours trying to land that thing (I wouldn't dare call it an aircraft!) without crashing.

The ZX Spectrum version was equally demanding and introduced colour and simple graphics for the analogue instruments.

My flying career paused for a while as I got to grips with the BBC micro but the 737 Flight Simulator left me cold - it was hardly better than the Spectrum version.

Interest was renewed when I spent a holiday with my cousins in South Africa and saw the cockpit that Dave had built for his FSX simulator.

I moved from BBC micro to PC and that's when the hard cash started to kick-in until I arrived today at my XPlane system with multi monitors, MCP, FIP's, yokes, throttles, headsets, IPad - not to mention the several hard discs in my i7 PC with RTX 3080  graphics card and 32GB of memory.

Enough bragging....(But I know you have all been there too!)

In my never ending thirst for knowledge I trawled around the internet looking for places to get into the air - I joined a well-known VA for a while then arrived at OAV with Peter F in 2016 and have thorougly enjoyed my time here.

Many pilots fly with one or more VAs but my roots are firmly here with OAV, although I do admit to trying to earn a few more v$ with FSEconomy, and while I haven't got any real world experience behind the stick, I do own (virtually in FSE) 4 aircraft including a C172,   2 Cessna 208 Caravans and my all time favourite the DeHavilland DHC2 Beaver.

Three greens all!
